Over 4,000 learners from 33 Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) across Nakuru County have been awarded crafts and artisan certificates after the successful completion of their studies.
Presiding over the event, Governor Susan Kihika congratulated the graduates for their dedication and hard work, urging them to leverage the skills and knowledge gained for both personal and economic growth.
Governor Kihika lauded the remarkable progress made in transforming VTCs into financially sound institutions offering quality, market-driven training. Enrollment in these centres has grown significantly from 5,361 last year to 6,250 this year, reflecting the success of ongoing reforms. She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting VTCs through initiatives such as the Kshs 30,000 capitation fund per trainee, infrastructure upgrades, equipping, and staffing.
“Our VTCs are producing a skilled workforce that will position Nakuru County as an economic powerhouse in the future,” Governor Kihika stated.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Governor David Kones, the County Assembly Education Committee Chairman PM Njoroge, MCAs, Deputy County Commissioner Simiyu Were, senior county officials and families of the graduands. The milestone reflects Nakuru County’s dedication to empowering its youth and promoting vocational education as a pathway to sustainable development.
