Nakuru County Distributes Essential Resources to ECDE Learners in Kuresoi North and South

The Nakuru County Government has continued its commitment to improving early childhood education through the distribution of essential resources, including books and age-appropriate furniture, to Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners. The initiative aims to ensure young learners have a comfortable and well-equipped learning environment as they begin their academic journey.

In Kuresoi South, Chief Officer for Education, Ms. Rosemary Kimani, led the distribution exercise in Keringet Ward, where more than 20 schools received books for Pre-Primary 1 (PP1) and Pre-Primary 2 (PP2) classes. Each school also received 25 chairs to improve classroom conditions. Ms. Kimani acknowledged the efforts of teachers and stakeholders in supporting ECDE programs and highlighted the impact of the Mama Lishe Uji program, which has led to a significant increase in ECDE enrollment, growing from 900 to nearly 2,000 children.

Meanwhile, in Kuresoi North Sub-County, County Cooperative Chief Officer Kibet Kurgat oversaw the resource distribution at Nyota Primary School in Nyota Ward. Mr. Kurgat emphasized Governor Susan Kihika’s dedication to enhancing education quality across Nakuru County, ensuring that young learners receive the necessary resources for a strong academic foundation.

This initiative is part of the first phase of a broader project aimed at strengthening ECDE learning conditions. It follows the recent launch of a school feeding program and ongoing infrastructural developments designed to enhance early childhood education.

During the distribution events, several county officials and leaders were present, including Chief Officer for Tourism, Hon. John Koech, Keringet MCA and Nakuru County Assembly Majority Leader William Mutai, Wesley Lang’at Kiptosha (MCA, Nyota), Edward Omondi (Administrator, Nyota), ECDE coordinators, and multiple school head teachers. Their participation underscored the county’s collective effort to prioritize and improve early childhood education.

Governor Kihika’s administration remains committed to fostering quality education by investing in essential learning materials, feeding programs, and infrastructure improvements. Through such initiatives, the county aims to create a conducive learning environment that supports the academic growth and well-being of young learners in Nakuru.
