CECM Atieno Encourages Youth Engagement in Sports at Kapkures Cup Tournament

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Youth, Sports, Gender, and Social Services, Josephine Atieno, played a significant role in the Kapkures Cup tournament hosted by MCA Hon Robert Kiplang’at. During the event, CECM Atieno took the opportunity to distribute uniforms and sports equipment, emphasizing the importance of sports for both enjoyment and income.

Encouraging the youth to actively participate in sports, CECM Atieno highlighted the multifaceted benefits that sports can bring to individuals and communities. She urged the youth to embrace the various sporting disciplines, emphasizing their potential not only for personal enjoyment but also as a source of income and empowerment.

In addition to the equipment distribution, CECM Atieno confirmed the upcoming Governor’s Cup tournament, which is set to include a diverse range of sports disciplines. This initiative aligns with the county’s commitment to promoting and supporting sports activities that cater to the varied interests and talents of the youth.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Chief Officer for Youth, Talent, and Sports Pst Alex Maina, Chief Officer for Livestock and Fisheries Dr Michael Cheruiyot, as well as several Members of the County Assembly, including Hon. Alex Bor, Hon Bernard Kirui, Hon Leah Serem, and Hon William Mutai. The presence of these officials underscores the collective effort to foster sports development and engagement within Nakuru County. Sports Officer Nakuru Town West Sub-county, Caroline Nulu, was also among the attendees, emphasizing the collaborative approach toward promoting sports at the grassroots level.
