Construction works at Molo Sub-County Hospital in Nakuru County are progressing steadily, with a new block nearing completion. The block will host inpatient wards, outpatient services (OPD), and consultation rooms, significantly expanding the hospital’s capacity to serve patients across the sub-county and beyond.
Alongside the main block, the hospital is set to benefit from the development of a new standalone operating theatre complex that will feature four operating rooms. This expansion will improve surgical capacity and reduce waiting times for patients requiring different procedures. The project also includes roofed walkways to support easier and safer movement within the hospital as well as the installation of a perimeter fence to enhance the security of patients, staff, and hospital infrastructure.
The progress was confirmed earlier today by the Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. John Murima, during an inspection visit to the hospital. Dr. Murima explained that the works are part of ongoing efforts to align with Governor H.E. Susan Kihika’s commitment to complete all stalled and ongoing health projects to improve service delivery for Nakuru residents. He was joined by the Director for Medical Services, Dr. Daniel Wainaina, the Head of Health Infrastructure, Gerald Maina, and officials from the Department of Public Works, who together assessed the progress of construction and reaffirmed the county’s dedication to seeing the project delivered to completion.
Once operational, the expanded facilities at Molo Sub-County Hospital will bring multiple benefits to the community. More patients will have access to inpatient and outpatient services, and the availability of four modern operating rooms will ensure a higher capacity for surgical care. The hospital will also improve efficiency in patient flow with the new roofed walkways that provide safer connections between hospital units, especially during adverse weather. The perimeter fence will secure the hospital grounds, protecting both patients and staff while ensuring the sustainability of the new investments.
The ongoing works at Molo Sub-County Hospital are a demonstration of Governor Susan Kihika’s pledge to invest in healthcare and deliver on her promises. By focusing on completing stalled and ongoing projects, her administration is strengthening health infrastructure, enhancing access to medical services, and supporting the broader goal of Universal Health Coverage in Nakuru County. The Molo project is one among several upgrades being implemented across the county, reflecting a consistent effort to ensure that residents have access to reliable and improved healthcare facilities.
