County Government of Nakuru Empowers Traders with Trading Space Allocation at Nasher Market



The County Government of Nakuru aims to uplift the economic well-being of traders in Biashara Ward, Nakuru Town East Sub County. Today, they have concluded a free and fair allocation of trading spaces at the upper deck of Nasher Market. This initiative brings smiles to hundreds of traders who can now operate in a more organized and conducive environment.

The trading space allocation exercise, overseen by County Trade Executive Mr. Stephen Kuria, emphasized fairness and inclusivity. Mr. Kuria expressed his satisfaction with the sobriety exhibited by the traders throughout the process, acknowledging their cooperation and commitment to the well-being of the local economy.

During the allocation exercise, Mr. Kuria highlighted that the initiative is part of the County administration’s broader strategy under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika. The goal is to create a conducive environment that fosters economic growth not only for the traders but also for the residents of Nakuru. The County Government is actively working to support and empower local businesses, recognizing their vital role in driving the economic engine of the region.

The upper deck of Nasher Market, now organized into four sections, has the capacity to accommodate approximately 300 traders. This expansion provides an opportunity for more entrepreneurs to thrive and contribute to the vibrancy of the local market.

Present at the allocation exercise were Biashara MCA Hon. Fadhili Msuri, Samwel Maina (Market Superintendent, County), Francis Njoroge (Governor’s Office), Charles Nyanaro (Enforcement Officer), and Anthony Maina (Chair, Nasher Market). Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between local representatives, market authorities, and the County Government in ensuring a smooth and transparent trading space allocation process.
