Senator Susan Kihika has called on the community to make sure that the boy child is given as much attention as the girl child.
The Senator made the remarks while addressing families and friends of over 150 boys who were graduating after undergoing the rite of passage to adulthood. The graduation also included girls who had received counselling as they get into their teenage years.
βI agree we have given the girls too much attention at the expense of the boys. We now need to shift our attention to the boy child and advocate for their plight as much as we have done the girls,β said the Senator.
βAt this trend, our girls may not find ideal men to marry them when the time comes,β she added.
At the same time, the Senator got to congratulate three candidates who had emerged top in 2017 KCPE. Two of them, Chrispine Oduor who got 411 marks and Danston Mwangi who got 414 marks were both initiates at the ceremony. The third one was Juliet Atieno formally of Racetrack Primary School who got 424 marks.
The senator has promised that together with the County Speaker Maina Kairu who was also in attendance that they will support the three to pursue their secondary education.
Flamingo Ward MCA Eddy Kiragu was also in attendance.
