Egerton University, in collaboration with the Nakuru County Government, will co-host the 2026 Egerton University International Conference from 17th to 20th March 2026. The biennial event will bring together scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators from across the world to exchange knowledge and develop strategies for global challenges.

The 2026 conference will be held under the theme, “Empowering Change – Advancing Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Global Societies through Agriculture, Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.” The theme reflects the conference’s focus on solutions that link academic research, policy, and practical applications across multiple sectors.

The partnership aims to create an inclusive platform for dialogue among academia, government, and industry while stimulating local economic activities and tourism in Nakuru County. The collaboration is also expected to align conference discussions with the county’s development priorities and create opportunities for joint projects beyond the event.

Preparations for the conference are already underway through a joint steering committee composed of officials from Egerton University and Nakuru County Government. The committee has been holding planning sessions to ensure a coordinated approach to logistics, programming, and stakeholder engagement.

In today’s meeting, led by County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture, Leonard Bor, the committee resolved on key action points to guide the preparation process. These include carrying out comprehensive stakeholder mapping to identify potential contributors and participants, preparing a site plan for the proposed exhibition and conference venue, and identifying lead partners for various thematic areas.

The meeting also explored opportunities to integrate county priority areas into the conference agenda. By doing so, the event will not only address global development issues but also provide direct benefits to Nakuru County in terms of knowledge transfer, capacity building, and potential investment opportunities.

The session was attended by Chief Officer for Agriculture, Newton Mwaura, Nakuru City Manager, Gitau Thabanja, and the Egerton University delegation, who reaffirmed their commitment to the successful delivery of the event.

The 2026 Egerton University International Conference is expected to provide a platform for advancing research, shaping policy direction, and building partnerships that promote sustainable development in Nakuru County and beyond. Organizers have called on stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to actively participate in the preparation process to ensure a well-coordinated and impactful event.
