NARIGP Impact Evaluation in Nakuru County

Leonard Bor, the Nakuru County Executive Committee Member in charge of Agriculture recently led a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation effort of the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) funded groups in Kuresoi North Sub-county. The initiative aims to assess the impact of NARIGP on local communities and agricultural practices.

The monitoring tour covered various areas, including Arorwet, Mercy Njeri, Cherote, Mlima water catchment areas in Kamara Ward, Baraka Ridge, Legetio Self Help Group, Cheptagum Self Help Group in Sirikwa Ward, and Mawingu Maendeleo Self Help Group in Nyota Ward. During these visits, beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the positive impact the project has had on their livelihoods by enhancing agricultural productivity and profitability.

Simultaneously, another team led by Ag. Director of Veterinary Services, Veronicah Wanjohi, visited groups in Naivasha, including Smart Poultry in Lakeview ward and Hifadi Farmers Cooperative Society Limited in Maiella ward. Additionally, activities took place in Bahati Sub-county, where a team visited the Bahati farmers cooperative, Feed formulation, Bahati ward, and Crater stream farm ponds.

This ongoing evaluation is part of NARIGP’s focus on four key value chains: Dairy, Apiculture (Beekeeping), Irish Potatoes, and Poultry farming. The project seeks to empower local farmers and communities, contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of agriculture in Nakuru County.

The assessment will continue across Molo and Njoro Sub-counties, providing valuable insights into the project’s effectiveness and its impact on the agricultural landscape of Nakuru County.
