Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika today inspected progress on two key development projects in Subukia Township. The new Subukia Level 4 Hospital and an ultra-modern market are both aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and services for the community.
The Subukia Level 4 Hospital, now 90% complete, is set to become a one-stop healthcare facility offering a broad range of services, including an Accident and Emergency unit, maternity services, X-ray facilities, two theatres, and a newborn unit. Built at a cost of Kshs120 million, the hospital is expected to be operational by the first quarter of next year, addressing critical healthcare needs for the region’s residents.
The modern market project, currently 40% complete, is also expected to be ready in the first quarter of next year. Designed to accommodate 200 traders, the market will feature a cold room, drying area, social hall, lactation room, children’s play area, an ICT hub, and a food court. Priority for trading slots will be given to traders who previously operated in the area.
During the visit, Governor Kihika highlighted various ongoing projects in Subukia, including road upgrades, water projects, bridge construction, education support, street lighting, agricultural development, and fertilizer distribution. She also encouraged local youth to take advantage of the County Enterprise Fund and Cooperative Revolving Fund. Accompanying her were Deputy Governor David Kones, Subukia MP Samuel Gachobe, and Area MCA Isabella Makori.
