Governor Susan Kihika Addresses Staff Concerns, Pledges Improvements for Nakuru County

Nakuru County Governor H.E. Susan Kihika engaged in a comprehensive two-day dialogue with county staff, focusing on addressing grievances and strategizing solutions for challenges faced in providing quality services to residents.

The series of meetings kicked off at Nakuru High School grounds, where Governor Kihika interacted with staff from Nakuru Town East, Subukia, and Bahati Sub Counties. A range of issues surfaced during the discussions, including concerns related to promotions, transfers, training opportunities, staff shortages, confirmation of casual employees, and timely payment of allowances.

Moving to Gilgil Stadium, the governor continued her engagement with staff from Gilgil and Naivasha Sub Counties. She dedicated time to attentively listen to their concerns, emphasizing that her primary objective is to find effective solutions to work-related challenges, ultimately ensuring optimal performance from the county workforce.

Governor Kihika, demonstrating a commitment to recognizing merit and addressing stagnation, she ordered the CPSB to fast track the promotion of staffs who have stagnated in one position for a long. She also extended assurances to contractual staff in the health sector, guaranteeing the renewal of their contracts. The governor acknowledged the critical role of ECDE (Early Childhood Development Education) teachers and committed to addressing staff shortages in the firefighting team.

The second day of the engagement, scheduled for tomorrow, will see Governor Kihika meeting with staff from Molo and ATC Soilo sub-counties, continuing the dialogue on improving working conditions and efficiency.

Key figures present during the meetings included County Secretary Samuel Mwaura, Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, and Charles Mwai, chairman of Nakuru County Public Service Board. Departmental heads, including CECMs Jackie Osoro (Public Service), Roselyne Mungai (Health), Michael Kamau (Infrastructure), Nelson Maara (Water), John Kihagi (Lands), Stephen Kuria (Trade), Leonard Bor (Agriculture), along with Chief Officers and other officials, were actively engaged in the discussions.

Governor Kihika’s hands-on approach and decisive actions underscore her dedication to fostering a conducive working environment, ensuring the well-being of county staff, and ultimately enhancing service delivery to the residents of Nakuru County.
