The County Government of Nakuru has taken another bold step in improving vocational training and skills development for young people. In Keringet Ward, Kuresoi South Sub-County, the County Executive Committee Member for Education, Hon. Zipporah Wambui, has officially commissioned a modern administration block and two fully equipped workshop training rooms at Saptet Vocational Training Centre (VTC).

The new administration block is designed to streamline the centre’s management and improve service delivery to students and staff. Meanwhile, the workshop training rooms provide a modern space for hands-on skills training, allowing learners to practise in real-world conditions. These developments are set to transform the learning experience, ensuring students acquire market-relevant skills that boost their employability and entrepreneurship potential.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Wambui highlighted that these projects align with Governor Susan Kihika’s education manifesto, which prioritises upgrading learning infrastructure and empowering youth through technical and vocational education. She emphasised that well-equipped VTCs are vital for producing skilled graduates who can contribute meaningfully to the economy.

Governor Kihika’s administration has further demonstrated its commitment by maintaining an annual capitation of Ksh 30,000 per trainee in County Vocational Training Centres. This funding covers operational costs, provides essential learning materials, and eases the financial burden on families, ensuring more young people can access quality training.

For the students of Saptet VTC, the impact is immediate. They now have access to a conducive learning environment, modern tools, and qualified instructors who can guide them to succeed in their chosen fields. The improved infrastructure will help them compete effectively in both local and global job markets.

By investing in vocational training, Governor Susan Kihika is living up to her promises—creating opportunities for the youth, driving skills-based economic growth, and securing a brighter, more prosperous future for Nakuru County.
