Gov Susan Kihika joins other Governors for UHC consultative meeting at Statehouse

H.E. Governor Susan Kihika has called on Nakuru residents and Kenyans nationwide to register for the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program ahead of its nationwide roll-out on October 1, 2024. UHC, one of the key initiatives in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, aims to provide free quality healthcare services to all citizens, including treatment for critical illnesses such as cancer. Governor Kihika stressed the importance of registration via *147# or the website www.sha.go.ke. She emphasized that the success of UHC will require coordinated efforts across all levels of government, particularly at the county level, to ensure every Kenyan understands and accesses the benefits of this transformative healthcare initiative. To support UHC, the government has established three funds: the Primary Health Care Fund, the Social Health Insurance Fund, and the Emergency Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.

On a Facebook post after a consultative meeting at State House, Nairobi, which included Ministry of Health officials, governors, and other key stakeholders, Governor Kihika reaffirmed Nakuru County’s commitment to ensuring the success of the UHC program.

“I encourage Nakuru residents and Kenyans at large to take part in the transformative Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program by registering via *147# or visiting www.sha.go.ke ahead of the official launch on October 1, 2024. This inclusive healthcare initiative will make medical services more accessible and affordable, ensuring that every citizen benefits from quality healthcare,” posted the Governor.
