World Diabetes Day, Gilgil

Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to improving healthcare access in Nakuru County was evident as the Gatundu-Merironi Hypertension and Diabetes (HTN/DM) support group marked World Diabetes Day at Gatundu Dispensary in Morindat Ward, Gilgil Sub-County.

Under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gaps,” the event aimed to address the impact of diabetes on physical and mental health while promoting effective management through lifestyle changes. Organized by the Gilgil Sub-County Multi-Disciplinary Team, the outreach included health education, free blood sugar and pressure screenings, and medication distribution.

The initiative saw 35 clients receive vital health support, with 3 diagnosed with diabetes, 22 with hypertension, and 10 managing both conditions. High readings were stabilized, and treatments were administered by staff from Gilgil Sub-County Hospital.

Governor Kihika’s administration continues to drive the Primary Healthcare agenda by bringing essential services closer through regular medical outreaches.
