Healthcare Services Begin at Githima Dispensary, four years after construction

The newly opened Githima Dispensary in Kiptororo Ward

The residents of Githima in Kiptororo Ward, Kuresoi North Sub-county, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Governor Susan Kihika and Kiptororo MCA Hon. Alex Bor for making healthcare services accessible through the newly opened Githima Dispensary.
On its first day of operation, the dispensary served 150 patients, including men, women, and children, in what the community has hailed as a successful start.

Nurse Charles Thuo and a dedicated team from Kuresoi Health Centre provided outpatient services, with the support of local leaders and Community Health Promoters (CHPs), who have pledged to help the dispensary as it grows. In addition, the Division of Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change donated 50 trees, which were planted at the facility to enhance its surroundings.

Constructed in the 2019/2020 financial year, and despite having used millions of taxpayers’ money, Githima Dispensary was abandoned for four years denying residents value for money. It is one of the several health facilities that had been neglected by the previous administration denying residents the much-needed service.

While the official opening ceremony by Governor Kihika is yet to be held, the dispensary will continue to serve the healthcare needs of Githima residents. The community looks forward to the long-term benefits of this much-needed facility.
