Honoring the Legacy of Moses Kiarie Gitonga: Nakuru County Bids Farewell to a Remarkable Leader


Nakuru County came together in solemn remembrance today as Deputy Governor David Kones stood in for Governor Susan Kihika at the burial ceremony of the late Moses Kiarie Gitonga. Held in the serene surroundings of Kiamunyeki Village, Lanet-Umoja Ward, Bahati Sub-County, the ceremony was a poignant tribute to a man who dedicated his life to public service.

Moses Kiarie Gitonga, Chairman of the Nakuru County Bursary Committee in the Office of the Governor, left an indelible mark on the community he served. His untimely passing, after a brief illness, has left a void in the hearts of many who knew him. Described as a natural-born leader, dependable, and tirelessly hardworking, Kiarie was revered for his unwavering commitment to finding solutions to every challenge he encountered.

In her heartfelt tribute, Governor Susan Kihika hailed Kiarie as the epitome of the Nakuru County Bursary initiative. His invaluable contributions to the program, she noted, were irreplaceable. In honor of his legacy, she pledged to enhance the bursary program, ensuring that Kiarie’s dedication to empowering the youth through education would continue to flourish.

Echoing the sentiments of Governor Kihika, Deputy Governor David Kones paid tribute to Kiarie as a true leader and a compassionate listener. He lauded Kiarie’s ability to navigate obstacles with grace and resolve, never hesitating to offer solutions with humility and dedication.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed County officials, including County Secretary Dr. Samuel Mwaura, and a host of County Executive Committee Members (CECs) such as Zipporah Wambui (Education) and Michael Kamau (Infrastructure). Chief Officers Samuel Ndegwa (Trade), Kennedy Mungai (Environment), Newton Mwaura (Agriculture), and John Koech (Education) also paid their respects, alongside Members of County Assembly (MCAs) PM Njoroge (Murindat) and Gathuita Mwangi (Ndundori ward), as well as Ward Coordinators and other dignitaries.
