The construction of a modern maternity unit at Kapsetek Dispensary in Soin Ward is nearing completion and is set to be finalized in 2025. This project, spearheaded by H.E. Governor Susan Kihika in collaboration with MCA Hon. Naburuki, aims to enhance healthcare services in the region by improving maternal and newborn care.
During an inspection visit to the facility, County Executive Committee Member for Health Roselyn Mungai commended the significant progress made since her last visit in November 2024. She described the project as a major milestone in strengthening healthcare services in Soin Ward. The second phase of the upgrade is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of this year, with completion targeted for the 2025/26 fiscal year.
Ms. Mungai also visited Mangu Health Centre, where maternity services have expanded significantly. Since her last visit in September 2024, the facility has recorded nearly 60 safe deliveries, a testament to the ongoing improvements in maternal healthcare. She noted that the nursing team, having undergone Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC) training, is now applying their enhanced skills to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes.
The County Government of Nakuru remains committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that mothers and newborns receive quality care across all sub-counties.
