The Africa Gospel Church (AGC) Kenya has officially opened Khisa Haven, a baby center dedicated to children with special needs, located in Ngata, Rongai Sub-County. The launch event was attended by Nakuru County Deputy Governor H.E. David Kones, AGC Kenya Bishop Rev. Dr. Robert Langat, Jamie Lengacher, and representatives from the Nappanee Missionary Church.
Khisa Haven was established on land donated by Peter and Immaculate Khisa. The center has been designed to provide specialized care for children with disabilities, who will be relocated from the main AGC Baby Center. The facility includes a kitchen, bedrooms, a physiotherapy room, a nursing station, and washrooms—all tailored to support the needs of the children.
The Deputy Governor commended the initiative and reaffirmed the County Government’s readiness to support the facility. He noted that under the leadership of H.E. Governor Susan Kihika, the county remains committed to partnering with religious institutions and community organizations to promote inclusive welfare programs. He added that the county will make periodic visits to monitor the well-being of the children and to identify any possible areas where support is needed.
The Deputy Governor stated that the County Government continues to implement its promise of promoting inclusive development and social protection. Through the Department of Social Services and its partnerships with non-governmental and faith-based organizations, the county is working to ensure access to care and services for vulnerable groups, including children living with disabilities.
The opening of Khisa Haven aligns with the county’s broader goals to improve social services by investing in targeted support systems for children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations. The facility is expected to provide not only physical care but also emotional and developmental support through the involvement of house parents trained to care for the children.
Bishop Langat described the center as a home where children will receive care and attention in a community setting. He acknowledged the support of the local and international church networks and called for ongoing collaboration with the County Government.
Also present at the event were County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Leonard Bor, Political Advisor Joseph Kibore, members of AGC, and residents from the surrounding community. The County Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting similar initiatives that contribute to the well-being of its residents and align with its development agenda.
