In the Under-17 category, Nakuru United Men and Shabab Ladies were also declared champions after a series of fiercely contested matches. The tournament, which attracted over 200 teams from slum areas across Nakuru Town West and East Sub-Counties, aimed to tackle issues such as poverty, drug abuse, and crime, and to foster grassroots talent development.

The winning teams were awarded training cones, footballs, jerseys, books, and trophies by CFK AFRIKA, the event organizer. Keith Obiero, Program Lead for CFK AFRIKA-Youth and Education, and Maureen Onyango, Communications Lead at CFK AFRIKA, expressed their gratitude to H.E. Governor Susan Kihika for her unwavering support of youth-focused initiatives. They emphasized the need for ongoing collaboration to address challenges like drug abuse, early pregnancies, school dropouts, and crime among the youth in Nakuru.

She highlighted how these initiatives align with Governor Kihika’s manifesto, which prioritizes youth empowerment, talent development, and social harmony.

“The discipline and commitment shown by the youth throughout the tournament is commendable,” Atieno said, congratulating the champions and urging continued dedication.

Also in attendance were Nakuru sports officers Caroline Nulu (Nakuru Town West) and Everline Onsongo (Njoro), alongside coaches, referees, and other stakeholders, all united in their mission to uplift Nakuru’s youth through sports and development.
