CO Kibet Kurgat addressing Naivasha cooperatives members

Residents of Naivasha Sub-county engaged in insightful discussions with the Chief Officer for Cooperatives, Hon. Kibet Kurgat, during cooperative engagement forums held at Lakeview and Maai Mahiu wards.

At the Chief’s office in Lakeview, members of the Lakeview Vision Sacco participated in an interactive sensitization meeting. The Sacco, which has been active for the past five years, boasts approximately 90 members involved in various value chain projects, including potato farming, dairy, and poultry production. Present at the meeting were Cooperative Officer Hannifa Wambomba, Community-Driven Development Committees (CDDCs), the Ward Administrator, and local agripreneurs.

Meanwhile, members of the United Maai Mahiu Sacco attended a similar session, where National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NACVDP) Officer Collins Kipchumba encouraged them to market their Sacco actively. He emphasized the importance of growing membership and maintaining an active cooperative, noting that strength lies in numbers.

CO Kurgat commended agripreneurs for their dedication and urged them to take advantage of the Ksh 300 incentive offered for recruiting new members. He also highlighted Nakuru County’s participation in the NACVDP initiative, which is aimed at transforming the agricultural sector by addressing value chain challenges, empowering smallholder farmers, and strengthening agribusinesses.

Reaffirming Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to supporting cooperatives, CO Kurgat underscored the importance of the Cooperative Revolving Fund, which provides financial support to help Saccos expand and thrive.

Also present were Stephanie Wangeci (Ward Agricultural Officer), Peter Mbugua (Sub-County Administrative Officer), Beryle Mondo (Cooperative Officer), and various agripreneurs.
