CECM for Roads, Eng. Michael Kamau and City Manager Gitau Thambaja expressed optimism about Nakuru City’s shift towards greener transport during the launch of electric motorbikes. This initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable transportation in the region.
The City Manager highlighted the environmental benefits, particularly the reduction of noise pollution while reinforcing Nakuru’s dedication to eco-friendly practices. Eng. Kamau further noted that the county has partnered with key stakeholders to shape e-mobility policies, solidifying Nakuru’s position as a leader in sustainable transport solutions.
With 10 charging stations, eight already operational, Nakuru is set to become a hub for eco-friendly mobility. ARC Ride’s CEO emphasized Nakuru’s potential as the largest market for electric motorbikes, with local assembly providing job opportunities for residents. The bikes boast a top speed of 90 kph, a load capacity of 250kg, and a range of 90km.
Present at the launch were Chief Officers Samwel Ndegwa (Infrastructure) and Benard Sang (Trade), alongside Stephen Mwanda, spokesperson for Nakuru’s Bodaboda Association.
