The City we Want Public Participation

Nakuru City residents turned out in large numbers for the ‘The City We Want’ public forum held at Old Town Hall, reaffirming their commitment to civic engagement and participatory governance. The forum provided an interactive platform for residents to engage city officials and development partners in discussions aimed at improving infrastructure, service delivery, and urban planning.

The event attracted key stakeholders, including Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), Kenya Power (KPLC), NakuPlan Consultants, and Nawassco, who pledged their commitment to strengthening public engagement and supporting Nakuru’s urban transformation agenda.

The forum also served as an opportunity to highlight progress made under Governor Susan Kihika’s administration, particularly in road upgrade projects, expansion of street lighting to enhance security, and efforts to improve service delivery and urban infrastructure

The City Manager Gitau Thabanja assured residents that their feedback and concerns would be incorporated into future city planning to ensure sustainable urban development.

The meeting was attended by the Nakuru City Administrator Mucheru Chege, Director of Planning Robert Kiorono, and the Director of Environment Kiogora Muriithi

Nakuru City remains committed to an inclusive and responsive governance approach, ensuring that residents play an active role in shaping a better and more sustainable urban future.
