Nakuru County Governor H.E. Susan Kihika recently joined President H.E. Dr William Ruto at Lanet for the first Graduation Ceremony of the National Defence University – Kenya. This event marked a significant moment as Nakuru County established a partnership with the National Defence University.
The collaboration aims to train county staff in areas such as revenue collection and health. Additionally, the partnership will encompass joint efforts in infrastructure improvement, clean water provision, and the enhancement of Early Childhood Education (ECDE) programs. The Kenya Defence Forces are actively supporting Nakuru County, particularly in the construction of the Nakuru airport, which will benefit both the military and civilians.
During the graduation ceremony, President William Ruto awarded honours to 167 graduates, including Masters, Post-Graduate Diplomas, and Diplomas. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing security enhancement through research and advisory roles, urging the graduates to contribute to the nation’s safety.
Key attendees included Cabinet Secretaries Adan Duale (Defence) and Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Bahati MP Irene Njoki, Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, NDU Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Said Farah, senior and retired military officers, and the graduands. The ceremony highlighted the commitment to collaboration between Nakuru County and the National Defence University in various crucial sectors.
