Nakuru County Deputy Governor Celebrates Mashujaa Day Cup Tournament

Nakuru County’s Deputy Governor, H.E. David Kones, took part in the Mashujaa Day Cup tournament held at Ogilgei Primary School in Mosop Ward. The tournament, organized by County Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Alex Langat, featured multiple teams competing in both football and volleyball categories.

The victorious teams, Sumeek Ladies, Juhudi FC, and Salgaa FC, were crowned champions in the ladies’ and men’s football and volleyball divisions. They received trophies, football jerseys, balls, and cash prizes for their outstanding performance.

During the tournament, Deputy Governor Kones extended warm greetings from Governor H.E. Susan Kihika to the participating teams and the people of Rongai. He emphasized the crucial role that sports play in the lives of young individuals, providing an avenue to combat idleness, drug abuse, and criminal activities in society.

In line with the county’s commitment to sports development and youth empowerment, sports equipment, including football uniforms, balls, and nets, was presented to the five wards in Rongai Sub-county. Furthermore, the sports kitty and youth empowerment programs distributed youth empowerment items, such as three 100-seater tents and 300 chairs.

The event was attended by various county officials, including CECM Sports and Youth Josephine Achieng, Sports Chief Officer Ms. Stella Mwaura, Hon. Hawa Ibrahim (Liaison Officer), MCAs Helen Chemutai (Visoi), Nixon Murugu (Solai), DeGaulle Naburuki (Soin), and Isaac Rotok (Menengai West). Ward Administrators, Sports Officers, FKF representatives, and Governor’s Coordinators were also present to celebrate the tournament.
