The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Public Service Management, Disaster, and Humanitarian Assistance, Jackline Osoro, held a meeting with fire brigade personnel from Nakuru and Molo to discuss departmental challenges and ways to strengthen service delivery.

During the engagement, CECM Osoro acknowledged the commitment of the fire marshals in serving residents and assured them that the County Government of Nakuru is committed to addressing issues affecting their work. She emphasized that Governor Susan Kihika places high priority on the welfare and safety of residents, particularly in managing fire-related emergencies.

The fire brigade staff used the session to share concerns affecting their operations and expressed appreciation for the CECM’s support in advocating for their welfare. Director of Disaster Management, Geoffrey Kioko, thanked the firefighters for presenting their views and encouraged them to remain dedicated to their duties in safeguarding lives and property during emergencies.

In her remarks, CECM Osoro encouraged fire officers to strengthen engagement with the community and promote awareness about County programs such as the Wezesha Fund. She highlighted that the fund is an important initiative under Governor Kihika’s administration aimed at supporting economic empowerment for residents. By engaging directly with the public, fire officers can contribute to creating awareness of programs that improve livelihoods while continuing to enhance community resilience to disasters.

CECM Osoro reaffirmed that all concerns raised by the fire brigade personnel would be reviewed and addressed through the Department of Disaster and Humanitarian Assistance to ensure uninterrupted emergency response services. She noted that the County values the welfare of frontline staff and is committed to equipping them with the resources needed to serve effectively.

The meeting also served as a platform for building stronger communication channels between the County leadership and the disaster response teams. This approach is expected to strengthen coordination, improve preparedness, and ensure timely responses to emergencies in Nakuru and Molo.

Also present during the meeting was Disaster Management Officer John Muchai, who underscored the importance of continuous dialogue between staff and management as a way of improving service delivery.

Through such engagements, the County Government of Nakuru seeks to ensure that the fire brigade is well supported in fulfilling its mandate of protecting lives and property while contributing to the County’s disaster preparedness framework.
