Pauline Wambui, who lost her house to a devastating inferno in Kiamaina ward, Bahati Sub-county, finds solace and hope as Nakuru County extends a generous donation of relief. In a parallel effort, the family of the late Benson Thuo Wachira, who tragically lost his life due to electrocution in Menengai West Ward, Rongai Sub-county, also received humanitarian assistance from the County.
The relief aid, comprising assorted cereals, cooking oil, sugar, blankets, mattresses, and iron sheets, was delivered to both families under the core mandate of Nakuru County’s Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance. This initiative, led by Governor Susan Kihika, reflects the county’s commitment to providing immediate support to residents facing hardships caused by unforeseen disasters.
Governor Kihika has proactively activated high-alert response teams in anticipation of potential challenges arising from the impending El Niño. Residents are encouraged to be vigilant and report any signs or occurrences that may require swift response.
The event witnessed the presence of the Member of County Assembly for Menengai West, Hon. Isaac Rotok, and Humanitarian Officer Mr. John Muchai, among other attendees. This collaborative effort aims not only to alleviate immediate distress but also to strengthen the community’s resilience in the face of potential disasters.
