Nakuru County Government partners with Family Bank Foundation to Invest in Education



County Government of Nakuru, in collaboration with the Family Bank Foundation and other like-minded organizations, is spearheading bursary and scholarship programs. Today marked a milestone as the County Executive Committee Member for Education, ICT, and e-Government, Hon. Zipporah Wambui, flagged off the Family Bank Foundation scholarship beneficiaries, comprising bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Nakuru County.

Addressing the gathering, CECM Hon. Zipporah Wambui conveyed a congratulatory message from H.E. Governor Susan Kihika to the beneficiaries and expressed gratitude to Family Bank for their commitment to this noble cause. She emphasized the importance of education as the ultimate equalizer, stating, “The sky is no longer the limit, and education is the only equalizer. Utilize this opportunity, study smart during your secondary education and beyond. Through education, you will transform your lives, society, and make Nakuru County proud.”

Highlighting the Governor’s unwavering support, CECM Zipporah Wambui revealed that the bursary allocation for the current financial year has substantially increased from 177 Million to 342 Million Kenyan Shillings, aimed at benefitting close to 70,000 college, secondary, university, and special school students. She announced that the bursary will be formally launched by H.E. Governor Susan Kihika later this month, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering access to education for all deserving students in Nakuru County.

The presence of Chief Officer Sports, Youth, and Resource Mobilization, Pst. Alex Maina, underscored the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in championing educational initiatives and youth empowerment in the region. Together, these concerted efforts are poised to make a significant impact in breaking the cycle of poverty and transforming the educational landscape of Nakuru County.

The partnership between the County Government of Nakuru and the Family Bank Foundation exemplifies the power of public-private collaboration in driving positive change and creating opportunities for socio-economic advancement.
