Around 30 local groups from Bahati Sub-County have participated in a cooperative sensitization program organized by the County Government of Nakuru, aimed at encouraging them to join the cooperative movement and benefit from its numerous opportunities. The initiative is part of the county’s broader strategy to boost economic growth through cooperative societies.
Speaking during the training session in Kiamaina ward, Cooperatives Chief Officer Kibet Kurgat emphasized the importance of the program in enabling groups to access financial resources such as the Cooperative Revolving Fund and other grants. “Joining cooperatives will open doors for these groups to access funding that can significantly boost their economic activities,” Kurgat stated.
The sensitization program aligns with Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to championing cooperative societies across the county. Kurgat noted that cooperatives play a critical role in enhancing economic empowerment and financial stability for local communities. “This initiative reflects our governor’s vision of strengthening the cooperative movement, which is crucial for the economic transformation of our county,” he added.
The event was also attended by the area MCA, Paul Warege, and other county officials, who showed their support for the program and encouraged local groups to take advantage of the cooperative model.
By joining cooperatives, the groups from Bahati Sub-County are expected to benefit from shared resources, increased bargaining power, and access to funding opportunities that will help them thrive economically. The program marks a significant step in the county’s efforts to foster a strong cooperative movement, empowering residents to achieve greater financial independence and prosperity.
