The County Government of Nakuru, through its leadership, joined members of Holy Family Mangu Catholic Church in Menengai West Ward for a church mass and fundraising event in support of the church’s planned residential development project. Representing Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika were County Executive Committee Members Stephen Kuria (Lands, Housing and Physical Planning) and Zipporah Ngugi (Education, Vocational Training and ICT), together with Chief Officer Edward Gitau.

During the event, CECM Stephen Kuria conveyed Governor Kihika’s message of support for faith-based institutions and reiterated the County Government’s commitment to working with community organizations to promote development. He noted the important role that such institutions play in bringing people together and supporting various social efforts that benefit local residents.

CECM Zipporah Ngugi spoke about ongoing projects being implemented by the County Government under Governor Kihika’s administration. She mentioned the establishment of Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) markets across several wards to provide better spaces for small-scale traders. These markets aim to improve the business environment and increase opportunities for those engaged in trade.

She also discussed the investments being made in Vocational Training Centres across the county. Each student enrolled in these centers is now supported with a Ksh 30,000 capitation, a move intended to ease financial barriers and encourage enrollment in technical and practical skills training. The County Government has also initiated the development of a textile hub and a music studio, both located in Nakuru. These projects are designed to give youth access to training and production facilities in the fields of garment making and music.

Andrew Kibet Komen, a Director at Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (NAWASSCO), also attended the event. His participation reflected the involvement of various sectors in supporting projects that serve community needs.

The presence of the County Executive team at the church event demonstrated the administration’s approach of working directly with local institutions and stakeholders. By participating in this fundraiser, the County Government showed its support for projects that aim to improve living conditions and promote self-reliance within communities.

The church’s residential development project is expected to provide housing solutions that serve the needs of its members. Through such engagements, the County Government continues to focus on partnerships that help address local challenges in areas such as housing, skills training, and economic activities. Governor Susan Kihika’s administration has emphasized collaboration and support for initiatives that are rooted in community participation and are aligned with broader development goals
