In a commitment to propel Nakuru County toward its development summit, the County Government has embarked on a series of infrastructural projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and resilience. The latest stride in this endeavor was witnessed as Edgar Sirima, the Ag Director for Roads & Public Transport, officially handed over the murraming and compaction project for the 1-kilometer Mchanganyiko Access Road in Kiamaina Ward, Bahati Sub-County.
The Mchanganyiko Access Road project is an example of progress, with its scope encompassing crucial components such as the installation of 600mm diameter culverts, 300 meters of grading, and an additional 300 meters of gravelling. These improvements are set to elevate major connection routes within the bustling center of Kiamaina, providing enhanced accessibility for both residents and businesses.
The project, valued at 9.8 million, goes beyond road upgrades. It includes a strategic focus on reinforcing the drainage infrastructure within Kiamaina Ward. Notably, the workers’ area, a lowland region that has grappled with substantial water discharge before and after the peak of rainy seasons, has received particular attention.
To tackle this issue head-on, the contractor is set to implement a multifaceted solution. This involves the installation of 600mm and 900mm diameter culverts, strategic stone pitching, and the construction of 20 scour checks. These measures aim to seamlessly integrate the workers’ area into an existing drainage system, effectively mitigating the impact of high-water discharge. Simultaneously, a 1-kilometer stretch of grading and gravelling will fortify the resilience of the region’s infrastructure.
The significance of this development was underscored by the presence of key stakeholders during the official handover ceremony. Area MCA Paul Warege, Ward Administrator Sarah Kangara, the contractor’s representative, and engaged residents all gathered to witness the inauguration of a project that promises to uplift the community and foster sustained growth.
As Nakuru County continues to champion a holistic approach to development, these infrastructural projects exemplify a proactive stance towards addressing the evolving needs of its constituents. The Mchanganyiko Access Road and drainage enhancements in Kiamaina Ward serve as testaments to the county’s dedication to creating a robust foundation for progress, connectivity, and resilience in the face of future challenges. The journey towards a more prosperous Nakuru is undeniably underway.
