The Directorate of Gender and Inclusivity in Nakuru County, in collaboration with Hope Worldwide Kenya (HWWK), held a planning meeting for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in 2023. This global movement, observed from November 25th to December 10th, 2023, serves as a critical period for raising awareness and advocating for an end to violence against women and girls. The theme for this year’s campaign is “UNiTE! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls.”
Gladys Kamuren, the Chief Officer for Gender, Social Services, and Inclusivity, expressed appreciation for the commitment of Gender Champion organizations in the fight against GBV in Nakuru County. The planning meeting brought together various organizations, including the Office of the County Commissioner, Radio Yetu, MG Innovation Hub, NGEC, DRIC, Ujamaa Africa, Groomsport Kenya, Usaid Tujenge Jamii, Life Bloom, and World Vision Kenya, among others.
The collaboration and planning efforts aim to make the 16 Days of Activism campaign impactful, fostering awareness, education, and community engagement to address and prevent gender-based violence in Nakuru County.
