Nakuru County is making significant strides in supporting its agricultural sector through ongoing projects to enhance tea, dairy, and fish farming. The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Veterinary Services revealed these efforts in a recent senior management meeting chaired by County Executive Committee Member Leonard Bor. Key projects discussed include the completion of tea buying centres, which are expected to improve tea quality, and the operationalization of existing milk coolers to increase milk bulking and chilling capacities for local marketing.

Additionally, the County is working on initiatives to empower fish farmers, focusing on fish safety and quality improvements to open up better market opportunities and improve income for local farmers. Emphasizing a collaborative approach, CECM Bor encouraged all officers to work towards achieving the department’s 100-day Rapid Results Initiative, stressing that these goals align with Nakuru’s broader objective of enhancing accountability, productivity, and service delivery across its agricultural programs.
