In a celebration of World Physiotherapy Day, Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital (NCRTH) echoed the global theme, “The role of Physiotherapy in Osteoarthritis and Rheumatological Disorders.” This event marked a significant step towards fulfilling Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to advancing healthcare in the county.

Jane Rotich, a Physiotherapist at NCRTH, shared insights into the hospital’s efforts. Managing an impressive average of 60 Physiotherapy patients daily in the Outpatient Department, the hospital demonstrated a clear commitment to addressing the growing concerns related to musculoskeletal health.

The core focus of the commemoration was on community education regarding the prevention of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatological Disorders. Governor Kihika’s health manifesto emphasizes the importance of proactive healthcare measures, and the World Physiotherapy Day celebration at NCRTH was a testament to implementing this vision.

Jane Rotich highlighted the hospital’s commitment to not only treating existing cases but also actively engaging in preventive measures. By educating the community on how to safeguard against these conditions, NCRTH aimed to reduce the incidence of musculoskeletal issues in Nakuru County.

One of the key highlights of NCRTH’s physiotherapy services is the management of patients through a functional Gym. This facility serves both inpatient and outpatient cases, showcasing the hospital’s holistic approach to healthcare. Governor Kihika’s vision includes creating comprehensive healthcare infrastructure, and NCRTH’s functional Gym aligns perfectly with this objective.

The Gym plays a vital role in facilitating the rehabilitation of Physiotherapy patients, providing them with a space equipped for their specific needs. This integrated approach not only ensures the effective management of existing cases but also contributes to the overall health and well-being of the community.

As Nakuru County continues to evolve under Governor Susan Kihika’s leadership, NCRTH’s commitment to the prevention, screening, and management of musculoskeletal disorders stands as a shining example. By actively engaging with the community and providing specialized facilities like the functional Gym, NCRTH is translating the governor’s health manifesto into tangible actions that positively impact the lives of the residents.

In celebrating World Physiotherapy Day, NCRTH not only honored the theme of the year but also showcased a commitment to realizing Governor Susan Kihika’s vision for a healthier Nakuru County. The strides made in physiotherapy services demonstrate that the county is on the right path towards a future where healthcare is comprehensive, preventive, and accessible to all.
