County Executive for Infrastructure, Eng. Michael Kamau, and Chief Officer for Roads and Public Transport, Kennedy Mugo, have conducted an inspection of the ongoing earth drain excavation works around the KFA Roundabout in Nakuru City.
The project, executed by KENHA’s contractor, aims to redirect accumulated stormwater to an existing manhole positioned at the right angle of the roundabout. This initiative is part of the Nakuru County Government’s proactive approach to mitigate flooding risks in the region.
In addition to the excavation, the team addressed concerns around the A8 corridor approaching the gatehouse roundabout beneath the railway line. Unclogging efforts have been implemented to control excessive pooling of water, fostering better drainage and reducing the potential for flooding.
The Department of Infrastructure, in collaboration with various stakeholders, is working tirelessly to identify and address areas requiring immediate attention. The county has already undertaken initiatives on key roads, including Government Road, Shadrack Kimalel, East Road, Mburu Gichua, Kalewa Road, and Migori Road.
This strategic focus on infrastructure and drainage improvements reflects Nakuru County’s commitment to proactively manage and reduce the impact of flooding, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
