Nakuru County’s Green Initiative: Tree Planting for a Sustainable Future

Green campaign in Barut

Under the visionary leadership of Governor Susan Kihika, Nakuru County is taking significant steps to create an environmentally friendly and sustainable community. The commitment to a green future is evident in the county’s tree planting initiatives aimed at supporting biodiversity and combating climate change.

The Department of Environment, led by Environment Officer Kimani Kuria, has joined hands with the Kingdom Seekers Fellowship Church through their MBCI radio and TV network. Today, they marked a crucial milestone in their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by broadcasting the distribution of over 10 kilograms of Acacia Xanthrophea seedballs. This initiative took place at Mlima Ugali, a recreation site in Barut.

By actively engaging in tree planting, Nakuru County not only enhances the beauty of its environment but also contributes to climate mitigation efforts. The act aligns with a broader vision to protect natural resources, combat climate change, and ensure a secure future for generations to come.

Accompanying Environment Officer Kimani Kuria were Paul Macharia, another Environment Officer, and representatives from the Mission To The Body of Christ (MBCI), including heads of media, radio, sales, marketing, as well as a representative from the local MCA. Together, they demonstrated the power of collaboration in fostering environmental sustainability and community well-being.
