The Nakuru community bid farewell to Godwin Kimutai Kipkemoi, a prosperous bodaboda businessman, in a burial ceremony held in Konoin, Kiptagich Ward, Kuresoi South. Kimutai met an untimely demise in the Londiani Tragedy, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Hon. Joseph Kibore Rutto, Political Advisor to Governor Susan Kihika, represented the Governor at the burial and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He praised Kimutai as an industrious young man who had made a mark in the bodaboda business in Nakuru.
During his address to the mourners, Hon. Rutto expressed gratitude for Governor Susan Kihika’s support to the family in the wake of the tragic event. He also raised awareness about the recent surge in road accidents, urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads for the safety of all.
In addition to the condolences, Hon. Rutto shared insights into agricultural practices, encouraging locals to diversify their farming activities. Recognizing Kiptagich’s prominence in tea farming, he urged residents to allocate at least half an acre for cultivating pyrethrum, Nakuru’s “new white gold.” The construction of the Kentegra Pyrethrum factory in Naivasha is underway, signaling opportunities for farmers to participate in pyrethrum cultivation.
Highlighting ongoing projects in the Subcounty, Hon. Rutto mentioned the distribution of avocado seedlings, the completion of 10 tea buying centers, and the piping of the Kiptagich Water Project, among others.
The ceremony was attended by local leaders, including Kuresoi South MP Hon. Joseph Tonui, Kiptagich Ward MCA Hon. Rose Mutai, and Kisii Assistant County Commissioner Julius Romo. The gathering not only mourned the loss of a promising entrepreneur but also emphasized the importance of road safety and the potential for agricultural diversification in the region.
