Nakuru’s Rising Stars Shine Bright: A Football Odyssey



Nakuru County has emerged as a football powerhouse, showcasing twelve promising players scouted from the recently concluded Talanta Hela National Under 19 Inter-County Football competition. These twelve youngsters, with dreams as vast as the football field, are gearing up to leave an indelible mark on the national stage.

The pride of Nakuru County will be represented by nine boys: Peter Omondi, Ronald Echesa, Fredrick Odinga, Joseph Ndungu, Ahmed Charoum, Elisha Nalianya, Nicholas Odhiambo, Polestine Okoth, and Reagan Nyapola. Complementing this formidable lineup, the girls’ squad boasts the talents of Yvonne Sekila, Precious Zawadi, and Jael Awino.

From December 14 to 22, these stars will be refining their skills at the prestigious Kasarani camp in Nairobi. This intensive training is a crucial step as they prepare to join the national teams, Harambee Stars and Harambe Starlet, competing in the under-18 and under-20 categories.

Josephine Atieno, the County Executive for Youth, Sports, Gender, and Social Services, has conveyed her unwavering support and encouragement to these aspiring athletes. She urged the youth to seize every opportunity to nurture their talents, recognizing the profound impact they can have not only on the sports arena but also as a potential source of income.

As the sun sets over the Kasarani camp, these twelve players from Nakuru are not just honing their football prowess; they are forging friendships, embracing discipline, and embodying the spirit of sportsmanship.
