In a significant step towards improving the livelihoods of residents in Naivasha Sub-County, more than 2,000 people in Gathima, Karima Lare, Kamuchira Kijabe, Kwa Ngunjiri, and Wanga’ng’a villages in Mai Mahiu Ward are set to benefit from a new water project. The initiative, which involves the laying of water pipes across the area, will soon provide safe and quality drinking water directly to residents’ homes.
The project took a major leap forward when Sub-County Water Officer, Eng. John Karani, officially handed over the site to the contractor responsible for executing the works. Eng. Karani emphasized that the commencement of this water project is a significant move toward ensuring that every household in the area has access to clean and safe drinking water. He assured residents that the project will be completed with the highest standards of quality and within the stipulated contractual timeline, signaling a bright future for the local community.
The provision of clean water is not just a basic necessity but a critical factor in the social and economic development of any community. The availability of reliable and safe water will have a transformative impact on the lives of residents in these villages. With water easily accessible, families will no longer have to spend long hours searching for it, allowing them to focus on other productive activities that can improve their quality of life. Moreover, access to clean water is expected to significantly reduce waterborne diseases, improving the overall health of the community.
Area MCA, Hon. Eliud Kamau, expressed his deep gratitude to H.E. Governor Susan Kihika for prioritizing water projects in the county’s development agenda. He noted that the availability of water in Mai Mahiu Ward would bring about positive changes in the area, not only enhancing the health and well-being of residents but also boosting economic activities. “Water is life, and by ensuring that our people have access to it, we are laying the foundation for better living standards and sustainable development,” Hon. Kamau remarked.
This water project is part of a broader strategy by Governor Kihika’s administration to improve essential services across Nakuru County. By prioritizing such initiatives, the county government is demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the living standards of its residents. The successful completion of this project will serve as a model for similar initiatives in other parts of the county, ensuring that more communities gain access to the basic resources they need to thrive.
As the laying of water pipes continues, the residents of Gathima, Karima Lare, Kamuchira Kijabe, Kwa Ngunjiri, and Wanga’ng’a villages can look forward to a future where clean water flows directly into their homes, bringing with it the promise of better health, increased productivity, and improved livelihoods.
