The Paravolley Inter-Counties Championships officially began today at the London Social Hall in Nakuru Town West Sub-county, attracting teams from various counties including Nakuru, Nairobi, Laikipia, Bungoma, Kisumu, Vihiga, Mombasa, Isiolo, Samburu, and Uasin Gishu. The event, which serves as a platform for the national team selection, marks a significant milestone in promoting inclusivity in sports.
Doris Atieno, President of the Kenya Paravolley Federation, expressed her gratitude to Nakuru County for hosting the championship, and commending the leadership of the participating counties for ensuring the teams could compete.
During the opening ceremony, Nakuru’s Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, and Talent, Pastor Alex Maina, welcomed the athletes to Nakuru, highlighting the county’s vast opportunities and rich tourism. He encouraged fair competition and conveyed a special message from H.E. Governor Susan Kihika, promising the winning teams a special tour of Nakuru National Park and Lake Nakuru.
Also in attendance were Bikolis Mutua, Chief Officer for Sports in Makueni, and Justus Katumo, General Secretary of the Paravolley Federation, along with sports officers, referees, and coaches.
