The construction of the Maai Mahiu Vocational Training Center (VTC) in Maai Mahiu Ward, Naivasha Sub-county, has reached over 90% completion, marking a significant step towards equipping Nakuru’s youth with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
During an inspection visit, County Executive Committee Member for Education, Hon. Zipporah Wambui, emphasized the county’s commitment to expanding vocational education in line with Governor Susan Kihika’s agenda of empowering young people through skills training. She noted that the facility will offer market-driven courses tailored to meet industry demands, enhancing employability and self-reliance among trainees.
Hon. Wambui was accompanied by area MCA, Hon. Eliud Chege Kamau, the Gilgil Sub-County Vocational Training Officer, the Ward Administrator, and other county officials. The delegation expressed confidence in the project’s progress, underscoring its potential to transform lives upon completion.
Governor Susan Kihika reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to making vocational training accessible and affordable. In a statement, she encouraged Nakuru’s youth to enroll in VTCs across the county and benefit from the county-funded capitation program, which allocates Kshs 30,000 per learner to ease the financial burden on parents.
