Under Governor Susan Kihika’s leadership, the County Government of Nakuru, through partnerships with development organizations such as the World Bank, is committed to promoting value addition in priority sectors like dairy farming under the NAVCD program.

Subukia Sub-county has today hosted a public participation exercise on December 23, 2024, at the NYS Social Hall in Subukia Ward. Organized by the Suka Farmers Cooperative Society management board, the forum sought to incorporate public views on the proposed World Bank-funded expansion project, including constructing a UHT production line.

Key stakeholders attended the event, including PSTD Administrator Gitonga Kinyanjui, representing the Chief Officer for Public Participation, Hon. Edward Gitau, and area MCA Hon. Isabella Makori, who also chairs the Agriculture Committee at the Nakuru County Assembly. Moderated by Subukia Sub-county Administrator James Ndegwa, the public expressed their support for the project, commending the cooperative’s collaboration with NEMA to address environmental concerns tied to the expansion.

This initiative aims to enhance production outputs and boost farmers’ incomes. Other notable attendees included NAVCD Program Engineer Phillip Ajuma, Ward Administrator Reuben Anyango, Sub-county Cooperative Officer Dorcas Kimani, and representatives from the Livestock Department. Hon. Hussein Dida of the Hussein Dida Foundation was also present, underscoring the project’s broad-based support.
