Residents from Morendat ward , Gilgil receives a reliable supply of water from the Cura water project initiated by County Government of Nakuru

The completion of the Cura Water Project in Morendat Ward, Gilgil Sub-County, marks a significant step in improving access to clean and safe drinking water for over 2,000 residents, including students and staff of Cura Comprehensive School.

The project involved the sinking of a borehole, equipping and solarization, installation of a water storage tank, and construction of a communal water point. These components ensure a sustainable supply of water, reducing the reliance on traditional hand-driven wells that have long posed challenges to the community.

With the new water infrastructure in place, residents no longer have to walk long distances in search of water. The availability of taps enhances ease of access while promoting hygiene and proper water management. The solar-powered system ensures a cost-effective and environmentally friendly operation, reducing dependency on electricity and lowering maintenance costs.

This initiative aligns with Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to improving water access across Nakuru County. By implementing such projects, the county government is working towards ensuring that all households, schools, and institutions have access to a stable water supply. The completion of this project is part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and service delivery in rural and urban areas.

The Cura Water Project also supports economic activities in the area, including small-scale farming and livestock keeping, by ensuring that residents have a steady water supply. Additionally, access to clean water contributes to improved health outcomes by reducing the risks associated with consuming contaminated water.

Governor Susan Kihika’s administration continues to prioritize the provision of essential services, demonstrating a commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people of Nakuru County. The completion of this project is a reflection of the county’s ongoing efforts to address water shortages and enhance residents’ quality of life through sustainable water solutions.
