Earlier this week, Senator Susan Kihika attended the World Forum for Democracy, in Strasbourg, France. She attended the forum in her capacity as the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Forum for Women Parliamentarians.

The theme for discussion at the World Forum for Democracy was; Gender Equality: whose battle? For three days, the participants including the Nakuru Senator held discussions on the topic. According to her, “the forum was a great opportunity to share and reflect.”

“I participated in the discussion of Eradicating sexism in political institutions: a matter of time, or design?- and made presentations on the main results of the IPU-PACE new regional study on Sexism, harassment and violence against women in parliaments in Europe,”  says the senator.

Back home, Senator Susan Kihika says she remains optimistic and will continue to lobby for the success of the two-thirds (Duale Bill) that is currently before the National Assembly.

“With its success, we can finally comply with the Constitution and make significant gains towards gender equality,” she says.
