Successful Distribution of Sanitary Towels in Mauche Ward



The Directorate of Gender and Social Services, in collaboration with Rotary Club and HEART, orchestrated a meaningful initiative by distributing sanitary towels to over 300 girls in Mauche Ward, Njoro Sub- County. This campaign aims to provide essential menstrual hygiene support to young girls in the community.

Gladys Kamuren, Chief Officer for Gender and Inclusivity, revealed that the distributed consignment would ensure each girl has access to sanitary towels for a year. Beyond addressing practical needs, the initiative also emphasizes the importance of actively supporting campaigns against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and teenage pregnancy. Kamuren emphasized that by advocating for these causes, the goal is to protect and empower young girls in the community, fostering an environment conducive to their well-being and development.

The residents of Mauche Ward expressed their gratitude to H.E Governor Susan Kihika for her unwavering commitment to prioritizing the girl child agenda, particularly evident in the distribution of sanitary pads. Governor Kihika’s dedication to supporting initiatives that enhance the lives of young girls has been a driving force behind such impactful programs.

Accompanied by Area MCA Hon Moses Koros and representatives from the partnering organizations, Chief Officer Kamuren played a crucial role in overseeing the seamless distribution process. The collaboration with Rotary Club and HEART highlights the collective effort required to address critical issues affecting young girls, promoting a sense of community responsibility and support.
